Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies
Ph.D., University of Minnesota, 1978. Principal research and teaching interests are electoral behavior, political parties and political change in the United States in a historical perspective.
I am currently working on two collaborative projects. The first is a study of the structure and evolution of American policy preferences over the last 50 years and its impact on vote choice. The collaborator on this project is Professor Byron Shafer of the University of Wisconsin. The second study, being done with Professor Philip Pollock III of the University of Central Florida, is an examination of why individuals make campaign contributions.
