Principle research and teaching interests are in American politics, public opinion, political psychology, political communication, and methodology. Research Agenda:My research focuses on issues related to citizen competence. I am working on several projects that examine political knowledge and citizens’ attention to politics, with an emphasis on how different features of media coverage affect learning and news interest. In addition, I have variety of papers that explore elite behavior in the area of political rhetoric.
